On Thursday, 16 February North Cobb will be hosting the annual 9th Grade Open House. There will be two sessions ran during the event, so cadets will be here from 4:30pm until 8:00pm. Pizza will be privided for those that participating during breaks. The event only requires about 10 to 15 cadets, so sign up quick. First come, first serve. North Cobb-Harrison's Rifle Team Wins Big and Qualifies for Navy Nationals!

We are extremely proud to announce that our Precision NJROTC Rifle Team has qualified for the Navy National Rifle Championship! Our Precision and Sporter Rifle teams participated in the Area-12 Rifle Championship this past Saturday, 28 January 2017. They placed 2nd overall in the Area-12 match hosted at the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) firing range at Anniston, AL. The Precision team members are: Jennings Curd, Allora Whitney, Alyssa Thomas, and Benjamin Davis. Among those cadets, Benjamin placed 2nd overall and Jennings placed seventh overall in the Precision class. Our team scored 2285 possible points out of 2400 possible points and were only 12 points behind the first place team.
Shooter Qualifies for the Navy National Championship After Competing in the Secretary of the Navy (SecNav) Postal Rifle Match!
Congratulations are in order for Cadet Ben Davis, after his outstanding performance while participating in the Secretary of the Navy postal rifle match. Davis scored a 292 out of a possible 300 points, qualifying him for the Navy National STS Rifle Championship, that will take place 16-18 February 2017 in Anniston, AL. He was one of only 5 Navy JROTC competitors from across the region to score high enough to qualify at this match Navy wide. Take a bow Ben, you earned it!
Brain Brawl Team "Crushes" Competition in Season Opener Match
The North Cobb-Harrison Brain Brawl Team blew away their competition Saturday, 19 November at Hill Grove High School. In their journey to defend their 3-Time, Back-to-Back-to-Back National Championship, the team picked up right from where they left off last year. Congratulations Brain Brawl Team and good luck defending the national title!

Congratulations to NS1 c/SA Cierra Chambers (female pictured first) and NS3 c/ENS Mahmoud Abusaid (male pictured second) for being awarded as cadets of the quarter for the third quarter of the 2016-2017 school year. These cadets have displayed superior military bearing, academic achievement, participation in community service events, conduct, and they have shown esprit de corps throughout this past six weeks.

Ready or Not, Here We Come Area 12 Drill Championship Competition!
Congratulations to our Naval Junior ROTC Unit Drill Team! This Saturday, October 21, our unit visited Luella High School to compete against 15 other units who also represent Area 12. It was the first sanctioned Area-12 Drill Meet of the year and our unit brought home 11 trophies. THAT'S RIGHT, 11 TROPHIES! Victories included 1st place in Armed Exhibition led by Cadet Angel Maldonado, Armed Basic led by Cadet Louis Ramos, and Academics led by Cadet Andrew Kelly. In addition, the team scored 2nd on the Personnel Inspection, Color Guard, and 1st place overall in drill. This placed us 2nd overall at the Drill Meet. The 2nd place overall finish gives the unit an automatic bid to the Area-12 Championship where our team will compete against the top Navy JROTC units in the State. Congratulations again to our NJROTC Unit!

The North Cobb~Harrison NJROTC Unit conducted its Annual Military Inspection (AMI) Thursday, 13 Oct at North Cobb High School. This year, inspection was conducted by the Area-12 Manager, CDR Rustie Hibbard USN (Ret.).
The ceremony began with each cadet receiving an individual personnel inspection later followed by an official military ceremony that included music from the NCHS Symphony, a drill platoon exhibition, and an awards presentation.
Staff and Officers of the unit were responsible for conducting a brief to CDR Hibbard concerning the status of their respected responsibilities and future improvements. Staff who had department inspections were able to showcase their leadership by receiving an outstanding in their departments. These areas include Admin, Supply, and Ordnance.
Upon the conclusion of the AMI, CDR Hibbard took time to speak to the cadets and allowed them to ask questions concerning different issues throughout Area-12.
Special thanks goes out to our Booster Organization Staff and parents who came out to support this event. They are the ones that make this unit a great success.
Precision Rifle Match In Nashville, Tennesee
Our NJROTC Rifle Team participated in a major rifle match this past weekend at Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tennesee. The Team finished 5th of 14 precision teams that participated. Congratulations are in order for Benjamin Davis who was TOP GUN, finishing FIRST PLACE among 56 shooters. Ben fired 587 points out of 600, that is 13 points short of being perfect. This was coupled with a noteworthy performance by Jennings Curd, Allora Whitney, and Alyssa Thomas who all carried our rifle team to success. Rifle Teams from all over the Southeastern United States participated in this event which allowed our shooters to compete against a wider range of competitors.
Orienteering Team Competes at Jolly Roger O-Meet
The North Cobb~Harrison Orienteering Team competed at the Jolly Roger Orienteering Meet Saturday, 15 October at Mistletoe State Park in Appalling, Georgia. The Orange team lead by Malachi Rock scored 1st out of 50 runners and placed 3rd overall. The team continues to grow thanks to the dedication of the team leader, Cameron Hutcheson and our upperclassmen. Great job team!!!
Helping To Feed The Hungry at Action Ministries
September 10, 2016, cadets ventured Action Ministries warehouse in order to pack 500 food boxes that will aid in hunger relief for struggling families. Cadets filed along a conveyor belt, passed boxes down the line, and worked in unison. It stretched from one side of the room to the other with volunteers at each station building boxes, marking out barcodes, putting items in each box, taping the boxes, and lastly stacking them onto pallets. Each box contained food items such as Fruit bars, canned beans, macaroni and cheese, canned fruit, rice, chicken broth, tuna, and peas. North Cobb-Harrison NJROTC is proud to help unfortunate families by participating in this community service event.

Welcome Aboard, New Cadets!
On Saturday, 13 August, at Acworth Beach in Cabule Park, aspiring cadets attended our Welcome Aboard Picnic. It was an opportunity for returning cadets to get acquainted with the fresh faces that will be attending the unit as well as an opportunity for our NS1's and their families to get to know the SNSI and NSI. Those who attended enjoyed the food, beach, and fun. We appreciate all who participated and made this event possible. This unit looks forward to the rising cadets that will be the future leaders of North Cobb-Harrison's NJROTC.
Cadet Senior Officers and Staff Make a Lasting Impression On Incoming Freshman at The 2016 Freshman Orientation
Cadet Staff and Officers conducted the unit's Freshman Orientation last week for some of our cadets who will be part of the unit this coming Fall. The purpose of the orientation was to give incoming freshman a basic understanding of what is to come this school year. Students in attendance were indoctrinated on numerous subject matters such as basic drill, core knowledge, and physical fitness. Special thanks to the Booster Organization parents who treated the new freshman to grilled burgers and hot dogs at the conclusion of the orientation. Thanks to all of the staff and officers who contributed to the overall success of this year's Freshman Orientation.
Cadets Brave The HEAT, HUMIDITY, & "HATS" at Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina!!!
Cadets from the North Cobb-Harrison NJROTC unit took time out of their summer break to take on the challenge of this year’s BLT (Basic Leadership Training) at Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. The BLT was conducted July 5th-8th. 37 cadets overcame their fears by conquering obstacles such as the Confidence Course, Gas Chamber, and by repelling off the island’s legendary 50 foot Repel Tower. To make the trip even more memorable for cadets, the entire visit was led by Drill Instructor Sergeant Zachery Willms (pictured right), 2d Battalion, Company “G”. DI Sergeant Willms’ unyielding dedication to duty and professionalism contributed greatly to the overall success of this year’s BLT. In addition, special thanks are in order for the Booster Organization members and parents who accompanied 1stSgt during the visit.
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2016 LEADERSHIP ACADEMY GRADUATES
Congratulations are in order for our 2016 Leadership Academy Graduates. Cadets selected were pushed to their limits last week at the Riverside Military Academy located in Gainesville, Georgia. Cadets were challenged physically, academically, and mentally over a seven day period, while reinforcing their leadership knowledge, skills, and abilities. Upon completion of the course, cadets were awarded the coveted “Silver Cord” distinguishing them as the elite leaders of the North Cobb-Harrison Navy JROTC program. Job well done! MAYOR FOR A MINUTE COLOR GUARD
Cadets from the unit were invited to perform Color Guard duties at a recent Kennesaw City Council Meeting. North Cobb-Harrison Brain Brawl Team 3-Time National Champions

The North Cobb - Harrison NJROTC Brain Brawl team defended their two-time national championship status and won their third consecutive Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Brain Brawl National Championship April 30.
The Champion North Cobb – Harrison NJROTC Brain Brawl Team includes Alex Birchler, North Cobb; Andrew Kelly, Harrison; Tomas King, North Cobb; Dawson Bowman, North Cobb; and Jackson Fowler, North Cobb. By clinching their third consecutive National Championship, the team broke a championship record. The competition was held at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. and included 23 other teams from all around the country. In order to qualify for the National Championship, teams must place in the top 3 in their region. In addition to placing first in team competition, Alex Birchler, who is the team captain and a senior, placed 1st in the Individual “Brawl Stars” competition for the second consecutive year.
Brain Brawl is a college bowl styled academic competition, which includes questions on subjects ranging from naval history, oceanography, astronomy, navigation, geography, science, math, sports, and entertainment. It required months of preparation and practice, which resulted in their record-breaking victory.
In addition to the competition, the cadets toured the U.S. Naval Academy campus, viewed a parade of more 4,000 midshipmen, ate lunch in historic King Hall, and spoke with midshipmen about the admissions process and academy life. Congratulations to the North Cobb – Harrison NJROTC Brain Brawl National Champions!
Community Service: Cadets are reminded that clothing worn to community service events must meet Cobb County School District Dress Code. Cadets are not permitted to wear shorts that are too tight or too short.
Push-ups: Cadets are NOT authorized to give push-ups as punishment to other cadets.
School Support and Community Service: We have 649 hours of community service, and 132.5 hours of school support. Last year we earned 2,185 hours of community service and 1,823 hours of school support. Make sure you do your part to support the unit in maintaining our distinguished unit status.
Shirt Stays: Shirt Stays are apart of the NJROTC Unifrom. When in uniform all male cadets must wear Shirt Stays.
CCSD Physical Form: Click here for the latest form. CCSD physical is not required to participate in JROTC, but cadets that do not have a physical on file are ineligible for participation in some events, field trips, team competitions, and some awards.
Student Conduct: Interscholastic/Extracurricular Activities [IDF-R]: Applies in NJROTC, 365 days per year, 24 hours a day, in and out of the specific extracurricular season, and on or off school grounds. Click here for rules.
